Meet the cool, calm and classic Carl! He’s one to two years old, weighs 50 pounds and is a Labrador Retriever-Bully Breed blend. On November 10th, Carl arrived as a stray at the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina. Poor Carl lingered for months at the shelter, in large part because he had heartworms. On February 3rd he was added to the shelter’s euthanasia list for February 10th.
On February 4th, Susan Blakeney, RADAR’s liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, urgently asked for our help with Carl. As an incentive for a rescue to take him, we provided an offer to cover his heartworm treatment costs. In the nick of time, One Life to Live Pet Rescue and Adoption in Pennsylvania stepped up to take him! Carl received his heartworm treatment on April 18th.
“Carl is very friendly,” we were told. “He wants to be near everyone and cries if he’s left alone. He’s gentle and calm. He’s not hyper at all. He is a soft-spoken kind of guy. He has a nice medium walking pace and a sensitive, thoughtful demeanor. He’s fine with canines, but no cats for Carl. One look into his soulful eyes and we think you’ll agree, this boy is hard to resist!” Click here to view more photos of Carl.
RADAR paid all of Carl’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $291.
