Even though Travis was picked up as a stray, it was obvious from his good manners and training, that he must have had a wonderful family at some point. But on March 18th, this eight-year-old Retriever mix found himself at the Kershaw County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina. He was understandably very grumpy when he first arrived at the shelter, but improved dramatically and now is described as a gentle little lamb! What Travis didn’t know is that he was heartworm positive.
On April 20th, Stefanie McElveen with the Kershaw County Humane Society shelter asked RADAR for help with Travis. All 4 Paws Rescue in Pennsylvania was interested in taking him, but help was needed for his heartworm treatment. With Travis doubly at risk as both a senior and heartworm positive, we agreed to assist. He had his heartworm treatment on April 27th.
“Travis is a really calm and docile guy,” Stefanie shared with us. “He is wonderful with our volunteers and everyone loves to walk him. He’s very obedient and really tries to please his human.” His rescue told us that “Travis is a laid back, chill dude who just wants to sleep at your feet or rest on a comfy bed. This handsome older guy is calm, gentle and sweet as can be!” Click here to view more photos of Travis.
RADAR paid all of the heartworm treatment costs for Travis, which totaled $357.
