Instead of Downton Abbey, it was more like Downtrodden Abby for this dog! Surrendered by her owner to the Aiken County Animal Shelter in South Carolina on December 17th, five-year-old Abby faced a life-or-death situation at the shelter. Testing heartworm positive meant that Abby, a Bulldog mix, would not even be available for adoption. Her only hope was with a rescue commitment.

On December 30th, Mary Lou Seymour with The Heart Beat Goes On program began to network Abby. On January 10th, Mary Lou asked RADAR if we could help with Abby. With her time was just about up, the local Shelter Animals Advocate could pull Abby, but only if heartworm treatment funding could be provided. We agreed to assist and on January 14th Abby was safe!

She received her heartworm treatment on January 20th and 21st. We were told that Abby is a sweet and friendly girl who is playful, submissive and willing to please. Click here to view more photos of Abby.

RADAR paid $300 towards Abby’s heartworm treatment costs.
