Who would be able to enable Abel? RADAR to the rescue! A four-year-old Boxer blend, Abel was seized by animal control after being found chained outside without food or water, and being taunted and attacked by other dogs on the loose. He arrived at Chesterfield County Animal Services shelter in South Carolina on February 13th. In addition to being traumatized from his prior situation, he also was heartworm positive.
On February 21st, the shelter reached out to RADAR to see if we could help with Abel’s heartworm treatment costs. By getting the treatment done, he would have a better chance to get a rescue placement. We agreed, and he got his treatment on April 3rd and 4th. Meanwhile, Mostly Muttz Rescue in Pennsylvania agreed to take him!
The shelter had shared this with us about Abel: “When he came to us he was so frightened and did not want us to touch him. He has since learned that we meant him no harm and just wanted to help him. When we did his intake, he was very sweet but fluttered and squinted his eyes when we touched him, like he was waiting for it to hurt. Fortunately, as time has passed, his personality has blossomed!” Click here to view more photos of Abel.
RADAR paid all of Abel’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $286.
UPDATE! All funds for Abel have been raised! Thank you!
