Addison was stuck at the shelter since her arrival as a stray on July 1st. A two-year-old Bully Breed blend, Addison found herself confined to her cramped kennel at the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina. Not only was she begging to leave the shelter, but the folks there were begging and pleading with rescues to take this deserving dog. A major obstacle was that Addison had heartworms.
On October 27th, in a last-ditch effort to save Addison, Susan Blakeney, RADAR’s liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, asked for our help. We provided an offer to cover Addison’s heartworm treatment costs in order to encourage a rescue to take her. On November 2nd, One Life to Live Pet Rescue and Adoption in Pennsylvania agreed to take Addison! With the help of RADAR’s supporters, Addison was able to receive her heartworm treatment on November 9th.
“Addison is gentle, huggable, good-natured and happy,” Susan told us. “She is a really sweet and loving girl. She’s really calm. But what she would love to have is plenty of fun toys and a big bed to sleep in!” Click here to view more photos of Addison.
RADAR paid all of Addison’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $304.
