Amber Lynn

Amber Lynn, a two-year-old golden Labrador Retriever mix, was found as a stray in a community member’s yard. The finder was not able to keep this sweet gal and brought her to the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina on June 20th. Amber Lynn trembled in her kennel, but volunteers sat and talked with her, letting her know that she was going to be okay and better days were ahead. However, an obstacle to those better days appeared , as Amber Lynn tested positive for heartworms. Would Amber Lynn see those better days?

Happily for Amber Lynn, To Love A Canine Rescue in Pennsylvania was interested in her, but needed financial support for the treatment of her heartworms. When Susan Blakeney, RADAR’s liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, told RADAR about the situation on June 26th, and we agreed to cover Amber Lynn’s heartworm treatment expenses. Amber Lynn completed her heartworm treatment on July 28th.

Volunteers at the shelter believe Amber Lynn had a home and loving family at one time because of her sweet, well-balanced disposition. After a few days to decompress at the shelter, she learned to trust volunteers and staff. She eagerly greeted volunteers to take her out on leash for some time with people and other dogs. Amber Lynn walks politely on leash and enjoys being around people and other dogs. A typical rescue dog, she is grateful and affectionate for a trusting hand. Amber Lynn would love a family of her own with children and another gentle doggie friend to play with. Be sure to view more photos in Amber Lynn’s gallery.

RADAR paid all of Amber Lynn’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $270.
