Angel is a true angel of a dog, as she is affectionate and calm. This seven-year-old Boxer-Labrador Retriever mix was sadly surrendered to Blount County Animal Center in Tennessee by her owner on March 29th. Angel’s owner could no longer stay in his home due to health issues. Angel was heartbroken at losing her owner and her home. Little did this loving dog know that her broken heart was also infested with deadly heartworms.
On April 15th, Kristin Baksa, the shelter’s rescue coordinator, asked for RADAR’s help with Angel’s heartworm treatment costs. “Angel is not only heartworm positive,” Kristin told us, “but she is strongly heartworm positive, which indicates that she must have spent a lot of time outside without heartworm preventive.” We agreed to help and Angel had her heartworm treatment a few days later on April 18th.
“After lots of love, belly rubs, and special attention,” Kristin said, “Angel has brightened up. She is such an affectionate, calm girl and we absolutely love her.” Angel is recovering from her heartworm treatment in a foster home and seeking a new forever home. RADAR paid all $380 of the heartworm treatment costs for Angel.
