It seemed like the stars and planets were not aligned in Aries favor. This one-year-old black Labrador Retriever-Shepherd mix arrived at the Harnett County Animal Shelter in North Carolina on January 7th. Aries was surrendered to the shelter along with Brutus. Their previous owner was moving and could not keep the dogs. Black dogs are less likely to be rescued or adopted from shelters, so Aries was even more at risk at this small and crowded rural shelter.
On January 10th, RADAR was asked to help in an effort to save Aries, who was now on death row. We agreed to help cover his vetting costs as an incentive for a rescue to take him. On January 15th, Wags Rescue & Referral in Pennsylvania agreed to take Aries! He received his initial vetting and neutering on January 22nd. Fortunately, he was heartworm negative.
We were told this about Aries: “He’s great with other dogs and kids. He naturally has a somewhat dominant personality, so slow introductions are necessary. He now goes by the name of Namath.” Aries definitely deserves a second chance at a happy ending! Click here to view more photos of Aries.
RADAR paid $150 towards the initial vetting and neutering costs for Aries.
