To put it simply, we need your cash for Ash! Animal Control brought this two to three-year-old Treeing Walker Coonhound to the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina on July 16th. This wonderful dog received no rescue interest. His only problem was an all-too-common one: Ash was heartworm positive. With time running out, Ash was included on the shelter’s PTS (Put To Sleep) list for last week of August. Like so many other weeks this summer at this shelter, that week had many dogs on the dreaded PTS list.
The dedicated volunteers with the Darlington County Humane Society never gave up, and kept networking to find rescues. On August 27th, with only hours left for Ash, All 4 Paws Rescue in Pennsylvania agreed to take him! However, they could only do so if his heartworm treatment costs were covered. RADAR’s liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society volunteers, Susan Blakeney, contacted us pronto. We agreed immediately, and Ash was safe!
Ash had his heartworm treatment done on September 10th. Susan told us this about Ash: “He’s a sensitive gentleman with manners. Ash has a quiet and elegant manner about him. He’s at great ease around other dogs. He’s low key and very lovable!” To view more photos of Ash, click here.
RADAR paid all of Ash’s heartworm treatment costs of $240.
UPDATE! All funds for Ash have been raised! Thank you!
