Bailey needed to get bailed out of the shelter! Two years old and a Boxer-Bully Breed mix, Bailey arrived as a stray at the Aiken County Animal Shelter in South Carolina on July 16th. Testing heartworm positive placed Bailey’s life in jeopardy at this rural shelter because their policy prohibits heartworm positive dogs to be available for adoption. It would take a rescue commitment to save Bailey’s life.

Mary Lou Seymour with the The Heart Beat Goes On program serves as the bailiff for heartworm positive dogs in her Aiken County bailiwick. So on August 2nd, Mary Lou requested our help to post bond for Bailey in the form of providing funding for Bailey’s heartworm treatment costs. With our help, Shelter Animals Advocates, the parent organization of The Heart Beat Goes On, would take Bailey. We agreed to assist, which secured Bailey’s release.

On August 16th, Bailey received her heartworm treatment. Mary Lou’s partner with The Heart Beat Goes On, December Clark, told us that Bailey is a sweet girl. She does great walking on a leash. Bailey is friendly with other dogs. She seems eager to connect with people. To see more photos of Bailey, click here.

RADAR paid all $350 of the heartworm treatment costs for Bailey.
