With concerns that this adorable dog might be semi-feral, the initial goal was how to subdue Baloo. But after finding that he was far from feral, it turns out there had been much needless ado about Baloo! Two to three years old, 50 pounds and a Shepherd mix, Baloo was found as a stray on February 6th and taken to the Hampton County Animal Shelter in South Carolina. Not surprisingly, he tested positive for heartworms.

Mary Lou Seymour of Shelter Animals Advocates and its HeartBeat Goes On program went to bat for Baloo to find him a rescue. And on February 19th, she hit a home run! Dog Star Rescue in Connecticut would  take him if his heartworm treatment could be provided. Mary Lou turned to RADAR and we agreed to assist! He received his heartworm treatment on February 26th.

“Baloo turned out to be a complete favorite!” said December Clark, Mary Lou’s partner with Shelter Animal Advocates and The HeartBeat Goes On program. “He is friendly with dogs, cats and people. He’s potty trained. He can open gates so you have to make sure things are secure. You’d think he’s a show dog as you watch him prance around!” To see more photos of Baloo, click here.

RADAR paid all $341 of the heartworm treatment costs for Baloo.
