Yes, this Barbie is a doll of a dog! Barbie is a lovely little Pocket Pit who has so much curb and personality appeal. One to two years old, she was found as a stray on the aptly named Pocket Road on September 1st and taken to the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina. Unfortunately, she was heartworm positive, making her rescue or adoption possibilities all the more difficult. She ended up on the shelter’s urgent list.

On November 26th, Susan Blakeney, RADAR’s liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, requested our assistance for Barbie’s heartworm treatment costs. Out of the Pits in New York came forward to take Barbie, with the provision that her heartworm treatment costs be covered. We agreed to help, and she had her heartworm treatment on December 4th.

The shelter had this to share about Barbie: “She was voted ‘Most Popular’ at the shelter! Sporting a beautiful muted brindle and cream coat, coupled with her perky, bouncy ears and steadily wagging tail, there is good reason why Barbie was such a hit! Playful and bouncy, she is very interactive with both humans and other dogs. Barbie loves being the center of attention and soaks up all the loving she can get. A very manageable and steady walker, Barbie is a great size girl for folks of any age. She is ready to share her life with a family where she can seek out new adventures, make new friends and then share quiet snuggle times. Barbie is a sweetheart!” Click here to view more photos of Barbie.

RADAR paid all of Barbie’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $209.
