Becca was in a “peck o’ trouble” when she arrived as a stray at a rural home. This two- to four-year-old Blue Heeler mix was unwanted there and so Surry County Animal Control in North Carolina was called on June 7th. Becca was nervous in the always-crowded shelter. She would have been even more nervous if she had known she was heartworm positive. She was going to need some extra help to get out of the shelter.

Mayberry4Paws, an organization that helps facilitate and find rescues for at-risk dogs at the Surry County shelter, reached out to RADAR for help with Becca on June 14th. Could we cover Becca’s heartworm treatment costs? If so, Mayberry4Paws would save Becca from the shelter and find a rescue for her. RADAR paid for Becca’s heartworm treatment, which was completed on June 26th.

“Becca is a real peach!” her foster said. “She’s congenial and sweet, she is even-tempered and mellow. She walks well on a leash and gives nice kisses. Becca gets along well with the other dogs too. She can be shy at first but soon warms up to people.” To see more photos of Becca, click here.

RADAR paid all $375 of the heartworm treatment costs for Becca.
