With her soft and luxurious coat, Bella is a black beauty! Estimated to be four years old, Bella is a Retriever mix who arrived at the Aiken County Animal Shelter in South Carolina on January 4th as a stray. Being a black dog in a rural shelter would be more than enough to put Bella at risk, but testing heartworm positive meant that Bella was not even permitted to be adopted. A rescue commitment was Bella’s only hope.

Mary Lou Seymour of The Heart Beat Goes On program, who works tirelessly to save the Aiken heartworm positive dogs, began her search for a rescue for Bella on January 10th. When Purr-Fect Match Animal Rescue in Wisconsin expressed interest in taking Bella, Mary Lou was not going to let the cost of heartworm treatment derail Bella’s rescue. Mary Lou asked RADAR for assistance, and we agreed to help.

Bella had her heartworm treatment on January 20th and 21st. After recuperating, Bella will make the long journey to Wisconsin to find her forever home. Bella was described to us as being a lovely girl. She is good with other dogs, but is afraid of cats! She is gentle and calm. To view more photos of Bella, click here.

RADAR paid $300 towards the heartworm treatment costs for Bella.
