Bentley is a brave soul. This five-year-old Chocolate Labrador Retriever got a second chance at life after he arrived at the Horry County Animal Care Center in South Carolina on August 26th. It’s unclear how Bentley ended up at the shelter, but one thing was for sure: he was scared, and understandably so. Unfortunately, he found himself on the euthanasia list with no interest. Poor Bentley was also heartworm positive.

On August 30th, Heather Labbe with the New England Lab Rescue reached out to RADAR to see if we could provide assistance with the cost of Bentley’s heartworm treatment. Heather also said that they had a foster home ready for him after he finished his treatment. We agreed to assist, and New England Lab Rescue pulled him on August 31st! Bentley received his heartworm treatment on September 7th and September 8th.

Folks at both the shelter and the rescue knew that Bentley was feeling scared due to his situation, but his fears didn’t stop him from being a great dog. “I know he’s very afraid, and soon his life will be turned around for the better,” Heather said. Thankfully, with some help from a few new friends, Bentley doesn’t have to be afraid anymore. Click here to view more photos of Bentley.

RADAR paid $250 towards Bentley’s heartworm treatment costs.
