It’s the beautiful brindled Boxer Beret! The story of nine-year-old Beret has a few twists and turns. He showed up as a stray and hung out on the back deck of a home for a few days. The homeowners looked for his owner for several days with no luck, so they took him to the Blount County Animal Center shelter in Tennessee on October 2nd. A few days later, a gentleman called the shelter claiming to be his owner and described Beret perfectly. He said he wanted to pick up Beret the next day. But after learning Beret was heartworm positive he never showed up.
On October 17th, Kristin Baksa from the shelter requested RADAR’s help with the heartworm treatment costs for Beret. His heartworm status was preventing this wonderful senior dog from getting any adopter or rescue interest. We agreed to assist. Beret received his heartworm treatment on October 21st.
“Beret is a calm old guy,” Kristin said. “He doesn’t get riled about much. He knows a few commands, and is very happy laying on a nice comfy couch. This boy does get pretty energized once he’s outside. He gets along great with other dogs and cats.” Click here to view more photos of Beret.
RADAR paid $300 towards Beret’s heartworm treatment costs.
