Why, hello there! I’m Beulah Mae. I’m a Beagle mix somewhere close to five years old. I’m not one for complaining, but I’ve been through some hard times. When animal control brought me to the Lee County Animal Shelter in South Carolina as a stray on December 16th, I was in pretty awful condition. I was missing hair, had puncture wounds, and I was limping. To top it all off, I had heartworms. At that point it seemed like my chances of being saved were slipping away. But there was still hope!
A nice lady named Patty Guthrie was like a guardian angel for me. She helps Southern dogs like me through her work with Penny Angels Beagle Rescue in New Jersey. The rescue wanted to take me, but needed some help for my vetting and heartworm treatment costs. Patty asked a group called RADAR for help, and they agreed! I went to the vet on December 18th, and found out that I was in much better shape than originally thought! The injuries to my neck and shoulder had almost completely healed.
Then I got some really good news: Patty found a forever home for me! My new mom took care of my heartworm treatment, allowing RADAR to use the funds it would have spent on me to help another dog in need. To see more photos of me, click here!
RADAR paid all $89 of the initial veterinary costs for Beulah Mae.
