Billy the Kid? No, this is Billy the Dog! Estimated to be three to five years old, this Chihuahua mix arrived at the Chester County Animal Care & Control shelter in South Carolina on February 4th. His story was all too familiar: his owners were moving and said they couldn’t take Billy with them. Since he was surrendered to the shelter, the shelter staff temporarily named him Surrender. Billy was heartworm positive, which made him all the more at risk.
The shelter staff was thrilled when, on February 18th, Tina Watson from My Dog House Rescue in South Carolina expressed interest in taking Billy. There was just one catch: the rescue needed his heartworm treatment costs covered. RADAR’s help was requested and we agreed.
On February 24th and 25th, Billy had his heartworm treatment done. Tina told us this about Billy: “He is a sweet dog who thinks he is a big dog! He is good with kids and somewhat okay with other dogs. He has to tell the other dogs that he is the boss, then all is okay!” To see more photos of Billy, click here.
RADAR paid all $150 of Billy’s heartworm treatment costs.
