Although her name is Bina, because of her hefty size, the shelter staff nicknamed her Large Marge! She’s a one to two-year-old Shepherd-Hound mix who was found as a stray on April 2nd by a young couple. The next day a neighboring farmer came looking for the dog that had chased a cat and killed one of his chickens. Why? So that he could shoot the dog! The couple immediately took Bina to the Blount County Animal Center shelter in Tennessee. While she escaped the farmer, unfortunately, Bina tested heartworm positive.
On May 6th, Kristin Baksa, the shelter’s rescue coordinator, requested RADAR’s assistance for Bina’s heartworm treatment costs. To better enable Bina to get adopted or rescued, we agreed to help. She had her heartworm treatment done on May 9th.
“Bina is a big, friendly and energetic girl,” Kristin shared with us. “She gets along well with other dogs and loves her people, especially kids. She’s a great car rider, even though she takes up the entire back seat! She is currently enjoying life with her foster mom and dad and two Bully Breed sisters. Needless to say, Bina needs to be in a home with no cats or chickens!” To see more photos of Bina, click here.
RADAR paid all $300 of the heartworm treatment costs for Bina.
