When it comes to scents and scentsibility, Blake takes the cake! This approximately four-year-old Hound mix arrived as a stray on July 2nd at the Sampson County Animal Shelter in Clinton, North Carolina. When it was reported on July 31st that Blake was heartworm positive, we all knew that he had been dealt a death sentence.
On July 31st, RADAR was contacted by Sharon Whitley, who volunteers with the Sampson County Animal Advocates. She alerted us that Blake could use help because of Blake’s heartworm status and he didn’t have other pledges. RADAR provided an offer of assistance towards his heartworm treatment costs as an incentive for a rescue to take him. On August 5th, through the efforts of Leslie Lewis, the Sampson County Friends for Animals agreed to take Blake! He had his heartworm treatment done on August 7th. After a dozen days of quite recuperation in vet boarding, he will get to enjoy his new foster home as he awaits his forever home.
Leslie shared this with us about Blake: “He’s a happy-go-lucky fella, and full of life. Blake will definitely be a wonderful and loyal companion for a loving family. He walks easily on a leash and is content to just go right along with you! Blake is very easy going, gentle, grounded and content. And, he’s quite the tail wagger!” To view more photos of Blake, click here.
RADAR paid Blake’s heartworm treatment cost of $305.
