It’s all about Blaze! This three-year-old Bully Breed mix ended up at the Lee County Animal Shelter in South Carolina on December 10th when he was abandoned with the rest of his family, which included a female dog and their puppies. They were originally named after Al, Peggy, Kelly and Bud Bundy of “Married With Children” fame. Eventually, poor Blaze was the only one remaining at the shelter, and his chances of being rescued or adopted were growing slimmer every day. It turned out that Blaze was also heartworm positive, which set him back even more.
Anna Cilento of Suruluna Animal Rescue in New York contacted us on February 5th to see if we could help with funding to treat Blaze’s heartworms so that the rescue could take him. We agreed to assist, and Blaze got his treatment on March 7th and 8th!
Not much was known about Blaze upon his arrival at the shelter, but he tested well with both dogs and cats during his time there. It’s no surprise that he’s a friendly guy, given how sweet he looks! His rescue told us, “Blaze is a super handsome young man. He gets along well with dogs and cats alike! He is really easy going and loves to play as much as he does curling up on the couch with you. Blaze will make an excellent addition to any family.” Be sure to view more photos in Blaze’s gallery.
RADAR paid all $349 of the testing, x-ray and heartworm treatment costs for Blaze.
