Instead of Mr. Bojangles, it’s Beagle Bojangles! He is a four-year-old stray who arrived at the Hampton County Animal Shelter in South Carolina on April 10th. As the weeks passed, Bojangles must have wondered if he’d ever get out of this small rural shelter alive. Little did he know that he had heartworms, making rescue or adoption options all the more unlikely.
Luckily for Bojangles, on June 17th, Mary Lou Seymour and the fine folks with Shelter Animals Advocates and its Heart Beat Goes On program came to his rescue to find a rescue! A few days later, Dog Star Rescue in Connecticut offered to take Bojangles. All that was needed was to find funding for his heartworm treatment costs. Mary Lou asked RADAR, and we agreed to assist.
On June 1st, Bojangles had his heartworm treatment done. December Clark, also with Shelter Animals Advocates and The Heart Beat Goes On, shared this with us about Bojangles: “He’s a super nice boy. He gets along with other dogs very well. He is leash trained. Bojangles has the most adorable ‘Hush Puppies’ look about him!” To see more photos of Bojangles, click here.
RADAR paid all $312 of the heartworm treatment costs, for Bojangles.
UPDATE! All funds for Bojangles have been raised! Thank you!
