Booger the Beagle arrived at the Laurens County Animal Shelter in South Carolina on July 24th. A stray, this senior boy was around seven years old. His chest was slightly swollen, possibly due to being infested with heartworms. Despite his health issues, he was in good spirits and very loving. Booger would need some help to get out of the shelter: As a senior, his chances of adoption or rescue were slim, and testing positive for heartworms lessened his chances even more.

Fortunately for Booger, DogGone Shelter Intervention in South Carolina wanted to save him. But they needed help with his heartworm treatment costs, so they contacted RADAR right away on July 25th. And we agreed to help! Booger had his heartworm injections on September 12th.

Booger is now recovering from the treatment in a caring foster home. “Booger is a snuggle bug!” his foster says. “He loves being with his people and exploring the neighborhood. His favorite thing to do is relax on his chair and watch his foster dad play video games!” Click here to view more photos of Booger.

RADAR paid all of Booger’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $171.
