Booker and his brother, Big Foot, were confiscated by animal control way back on March 22nd. Their owner was not properly caring for them and letting them run loose. The dogs, both two-year-old Bully Breed-Hound mixes, were taken to the high-kill Hampton County Animal Shelter in South Carolina. With time running out for Booker and Big Foot, on October 27th the good folks at the Mary Ann Morris Animal Shelter (MAMAS) in Bamberg County, South Carolina, pulled both dogs and worked with their rescue partners to get them rescue commitments. Not surprisingly, both dogs were heartworm positive.
Pregnant Dog and All Breed Rescue in Pennsylvania agreed to take Big Foot and MAMAS was able to rustle up the funds needed to get his heartworm treatment done and send him on his way. In no time at all, Big Foot was adopted! So Pregnant Dog and All Breed Rescue in Pennsylvania decided to take Booker as well. But this time there were no funds to be found for his heartworm treatment. MAMAS asked for our help and we agreed.
Booker had his heartworm treatment done on November 15th. “He is a complete love bug!” we were told by MAMAS. “He just wants to be friends with everybody. He gets along great with other dogs and cats. Knowing how sweet he is and that we could save him, we just had to help him.” Click here to view more photos of Booker.
RADAR paid $250 towards Booker’s heartworm treatment costs.
