To paraphrase Nancy Sinatra’s 1966 hit song, “This Boots is made for walking. And that’s just what she’d like to do. One of these days this Boots is gonna take a walk with you!” Three years old, Boots was described to us as “a Golden Retriever mixed with something smaller!” She arrived as a stray at the Duplin County Animal Control shelter in North Carolina on November 13th. Boots had the misfortune of testing positive for heartworms.

On November 15th, Heidi McLaughlin with Adoption First Animal Rescue in North Carolina reached out to RADAR to see if we could help with Boots. The rescue would pull her from the shelter the very same day, but needed help with her vetting and heartworm treatment costs. We agreed to assist and Boots was safe! Boots was spayed on December 14th, and started her heartworm medications.

Heidi had this to share with us: “She is such a doll! She’s calm, quiet and just wants to be loved.” On December 16th, Boots attended an adoption event with Santa. Heidi tells us that Boots asked Santa for a family for Christmas, and within 15 minutes a family was applying to adopt her! To see more photos of Boots, click here.

RADAR paid all $167 of the spaying and heartworm treatment medication costs for Boots.
