Brandy is just dandy! Two years old and a 40-pound Boxer-Hound mix, Brandy was surrendered by her owner on April 17th to the Greenwood County Animal Shelter in South Carolina. The odds were already stacked against Brandy by being “just another Hound dog” in a rural shelter, but then she tested heartworm positive.

Mary Lou Seymour with Shelter Animals Advocates and its Heart Beat Goes On program started hounding rescues about taking Brandy. On May 3rd, Dog Star Rescue in Connecticut offered to take Brandy IF funds could be found for her heartworm treatment costs. Mary Lou immediately requested RADAR’s help and we agreed!

Brandy had her heartworm treatment done on May 22nd and 23rd. December Clark, also with Shelter Animals Advocates and The Heart Beat Goes On, told us this about Brandy: “She is sweet, happy, cheerful and very friendly. Brandy is a real wiggle worm! She gets along well with other dogs. In the shelter area she was fantastic with puppies and kittens.” Click here to view more photos of Brandy.

RADAR paid all of Brandy’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $350.
