Hi, I’m Buster, and I’d like to tell you my story! For starters, I’m a three- to four-year-old Lab mix. Last fall, I decided that I was ready to bust out of my old life and find a brand new one! After a little bit of wandering, I was picked up as a stray and taken to the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina on November 14th. During my time there, I got some bad news: I was heartworm positive. I learned that my chances of being pulled from the shelter weren’t so great.
I didn’t lose hope though. Caring For Creatures rescue in Virginia said they would take me in. The costs of my heartworm treatment were covered, but my pull fees still needed to be taken care of. That’s where an organization called RADAR came in! On April 28th, Susan Blakeney, RADAR’s liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue shelter, reached out to them to see if they could help. RADAR agreed to assist, and I was safe!
Even when my future seemed bleak, I did everything I could to impress those around me at the shelter. They often praised me for my polite demeanor and smiley attitude, and I was even named the best leash walker out of a field of over a dozen other dogs! Be sure to view more photos of me in my gallery!
RADAR paid all of Buster’s pull fees, including his vaccinations, testing and neutering costs, which totaled $175.
UPDATE! All funds for Buster have been raised! Thank you!
