Hail Caesar! Or, in this canine case, Heel Caesar! This approximately five to seven-year-old Labrador Retriever mix was in dire need of dental care, which his owner could not afford. So Caesar’s owner Walter Crowe Animal Shelter in Kershaw County, South Carolina, on April 3rd. Caesar also had some old hematomas in his right ear that needed attention. The combination of being a black dog and needing vet care put Caesar at risk.
Margaret Ellis, a volunteer at the shelter, contacted RADAR to see if we could assist with Caesar’s vet care in order to make him more likely to be adopted or taken by a rescue. After getting information from the shelter director, Sharon Jones, and doing our due diligence, we agreed to assist with Caesar. Going forward, RADAR will also be working with Sharon to try to help other at-risk dogs at the shelter.
On May 10th, Caesar received his dental treatment, which included the removal of nine teeth! The vet also surgically repaired the hematomas in his right ear. The folks at the shelter had this to say about Caesar: “He’s a gorgeous, energetic and loving boy with so much life to live and love to give!” Click here to see more photos of Caesar.
RADAR paid all of Caesar’s vet bill of $215 for his dental treatment and ear surgery.
