Presenting Carson: the dog, the problem and the solution.

The dog. Carson is a four to five-year-old female Bully Breed mix. She was severely malnourished and emaciated when she arrived at the shelter. Her coat was in awful condition and most of her bones were showing. It took some time and good food, but she’s finally started looking healthier and happier. She gets along well with kids, dogs and cats. Click here to view more photos of Carson.

The problem. Carson was found as a stray and taken to the Lee County Animal Shelter in South Carolina by animal control on August 28th. Despite her improved health and happiness, a far more serious problem was lurking: she was heartworm positive.

The Solution. On November 11th, Brandi Sowell, RADAR’s liaison with the Lee County Animal Shelter, asked us for help with Carson. Harley’s Haven Dog Rescue in Pennsylvania would take her if we could assist with her heartworm treatment costs. We agreed to seal the deal for her rescue commitment! She then was transported to the rescue, and she had her first heartworm treatments on December 5th.

RADAR paid $250 toward Carson’s heartworm treatment costs.

UPDATE! Carson has been adopted! Her new name is SugarTwist!
