Presenting Caspian: the dog, the problem and the solution.

The dog. Caspian is a three-year-old, 27-pound Beagle mix. He is described as being “a very nice boy” and “a friendly, cheerful little dude!” Caspian had the good fortune of getting adopted from the Aiken County Animal Shelter in South Carolina in 2016. Of course, that was not the end of the story…

The problem. On July 28th, Caspian was returned to the Aiken County Animal Shelter as an owner surrender. Not only was his life again in danger at the shelter, but now he was also heartworm positive. Because of his heartworms, only a rescue commitment could save his life at this shelter.

The Solution. Mary Lou Seymour of Shelter Animals Advocates and its HeartBeat Goes On program began searching for a rescue to take Caspian. Good news came on September 3rd when Dog Star Rescue in Connecticut offered to take Caspian if funding could be found for his heartworm treatment. Mary Lou turned to RADAR, and we agreed to help at once. He received his heartworm treatment on September 5th. Click here to view more photos of Caspian.

RADAR paid all of Caspian’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $298.
