Meet the sassy Cassie! A one to two-year-old Australian Cattle Dog mix, Cassie was surrendered by her owner to the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina on May 1st. Luckily for Cassie, she quickly stood out from the other dogs at the shelter in part because she had the cutest and most shaggy jacket! The only thing standing in the way of a quick rescue commitment was her heartworm-positive status.
On May 14th, Susan Blakeney, RADAR’s liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, requested our help for Cassie. The Animal Rescue Foundation of Southeastern Pennsylvania would take her IF her heartworm treatment could be provided. We agreed to assist. Cassie received her heartworm treatment on June 9th.
“Cassie has a typical herding dog personality,” Susan told us. “She reminds me of an only child. She needs her love and attention, and like a child will act out when she doesn’t get it! She’s incredibly sweet with people, and just wants to be your constant companion. She is friendly and outgoing, and loves a social setting!” To see more photos of Cassie, click here.
RADAR paid all of Cassie’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $156.
