Celine has been through some hard times, but like Celine Dion, she was determined to make sure that her heart would go on. This two-year-old Lab mix arrived at the Columbus County Animal Shelter in North Carolina on July 11th as a stray. And although Celine gave a Titanic-sized effort to impress everyone around her with her stunning looks and wonderful personality, finding a rescue or adopter wasn’t easy. It turned out that even though Celine’s heart was doing its best to go on, it was being held back by heartworms.
On July 30th, Karen Steers with Peak Lab Rescue in North Carolina asked RADAR if we could help. They were ready to pull Celine from the shelter, but they needed assistance with the cost of her heartworm treatment. We agreed to help, and she was safe! Celine got her treatment on September 9th.
We learned from folks at the rescue that Celine is an affectionate, energetic girl who wants nothing more than a family that will love her as much as she loves them. This waggy-tailed lady enjoys spending time with others, including humans and dogs. “She’ll bring a smile to your face even after the worst day,” we were told. RADAR paid all of Celine’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $294.
