Not to brag, but I’m a Champion. No really, Champ is what people call me! I’m a Lab mix somewhere between one and two years old, and I love meeting new friends, which I got to make a lot of after I arrived at the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina on May 22nd. My previous owner couldn’t take care of me anymore, so I was surrendered to animal control. It wasn’t the best situation, but I decided to take it in stride and keep being a champion! There was one problem though: I was heartworm positive.
Thankfully, all hope was not lost. Peppertree Rescue in New York thought they might be able to take me in, but I needed to have those pesky heartworms taken care of first. Susan Blakeney with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue knew just what to do. She asked an organization called RADAR for help, and they agreed to assist with the cost of my treatment. I got my treatment on July 24th, and I was safe!
I love making everyone around me feel like they’re a champion, too. I try to be polite, approachable, and just plain awesome in general. I’m happy to hang around and be mellow, or jump into the action when the time is right. I’ll be the champion of your heart! To see more photos of me, click here!
RADAR paid all $301 of the heartworm treatment costs for Champ.
