If we already had helped four Chanels, this would be Chanel No. 5! This glamorous gal ended up at the Surry County Animal Control shelter in North Carolina on April 3rd. Chanel’s young owner was kicked out of his mother’s house with the dog. A friend tried to help, but to no avail. Chanel’s owner did not want to give her up, but had no other options. Chanel is a three-year-old Shepherd-Boxer mix who tested heartworm positive.

Mayberry 4 Paws in North Carolina, an organization that helps facilitate and find rescues for the at-risk dogs at this rural shelter, asked for RADAR’s help with Chanel on April 8th. As an incentive for a rescue to pull her, we provided an offer to assist with her heartworm treatment costs. On April 27th, Second Chance Animal Rescue of Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts came forward to take Chanel! On April 27 and 28th, shel had her heartworm treatment done.

“Chanel’s main interest is affection from people,” the rescue reports. “She loves being petted and getting belly rubs. She would be happy to get attention all day long!  She is not interested in toys at all and seems to not know what to do with them, so she may have never seen any. She will inch closer to her foster when he is doing chores and always wants to be closer. Food and treats are not the main motivation for Chanel, she would rather get the attention from her foster!” Click here to view more photos of Chanel.

RADAR paid $250 towards Chanel’s heartworm treatment costs.
