What do you call this delightful dog? How about Char-ming! ‘Twas the week before Christmas when this two-year-old Pit Bull Terrier mix arrived as a stray at the Chester County Animal Care Control shelter in South Carolina. Not only was Char already at risk as a Pit Bull mix and a heartworm positive dog in a shelter, but she also a lymph node infection. Oh… and, she was pregnant!
On February 1st, with Char’s puppies due any day, the shelter contacted RADAR to see if we could help. We provided an offer to assist as an incentive for a rescue to take Char. Within a week, the Humane Society of Lancaster, SC agreed to take Char! This allowed Char to get out of the shelter and into the home of her foster mom, Deb. On February 18th, Char gave birth to her puppies–all eight of them!
By early April, two of Char’s pups were adopted and the other six were taken by a rescue. On April 17th, Char was spayed. Her heartworm treatment took place on May 15th. Her foster mom Deb says that Char was a great mother and is just a wonderful dog! To view more photos of Char, click here.
RADAR paid $61 for Char’s spaying and $250 for her heartworm treatment, for a total of $311.
