When we asked if Chester had a compelling story, we were told this: “unfortunately, he’s just another stray Beagle.” Two-year-old Chester ended up at the Columbus County Animal Shelter in North Carolina on July 17th, where he was known as CJ. Unfortunately, his story got more compelling when he tested positive for heartworms, making him far less likely to get rescued or adopted.

On July 22nd, shelter advocate Madi Joselyn, requested RADAR’s help with Chester’s heartworm treatment costs on behalf of the Burlington County Animal Alliance in New Jersey. We agreed and Chester was safe! His heartworm treatment took place on August 14th.

“Chester is super sweet and outgoing,” we were told. “He has a Beagle personality. He’s a super happy guy who meets everyone with his tail wagging! Chester is eager to meet new people and dogs. Chester is a quiet dog unless he sees a rabbit, then all bets are off!” Click here to view more photos of Chester.

RADAR paid all of Chester’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $186.

UPDATE! Chester has been adopted, and new name is Wilson!
