Now for some international intrigue: China is a German Shepherd mix in the United States! Eight-year-old China and Spunky arrived together as strays on August 14 at the Mary Ann Morris Animal Society (MAMAS) shelter in Bamberg County, South Carolina. Not only were both dogs strays, but both tested positive for heartworms, which made finding a rescue or adopter all the more difficult, and even more so for China because she is a senior dog.
On September 2nd, Ruthie Rish with MAMAS sought RADAR’s help for China and Spunky. Wet Nose Rescue in Pennsylvania would take both dogs if the cost of their heartworm treatment could be provided. Of course, we agreed to assist to secure their safe passage to a rescue! China received her treatment on September 4th.
“China is super gentle,” Ruthie shared with us. “She is kind and polite. She will be a wonderful friend and family member.” Click here to view more photos of China.
RADAR paid all of China’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $210.
UPDATE! All funds for China have been raised! Thank you!
