On TV it may be “Hot in Cleveland” for Elka, Victoria, Melanie and Joy, but that’s in Cleveland, Ohio. It was not so “Hot in Cleveland” for Chloe in Cleveland, North Carolina. Approximately three years old and a Pit Bull mix, Chloe arrived at the Cleveland County Animal Control Services shelter in North Carolina in mid-August. She was surrendered to the shelter by her owners. Chloe was covered in ticks. Her life was in double jeopardy because of the combination of her being a Pit Bull mix and heartworm positive.

On August 25th, Sybil Prosser, who was actively advocating for Chloe (she was known as Lovie at the shelter), requested RADAR’s help. “I’m obsessed with her,” Sybil confessed to us! That same day we provided an offer to assist with the cost of Chloe’s heartworm treatment as an incentive for a rescue to take her. On September 10th, Melissa McAllister of South of the Bully Rescue in North Carolina confirmed that the rescue was taking Chloe! She received her heartworm treatment on September 19th.

“Chloe is such a doll!” her foster told us. “She is a sweet and calm girl who loves every other animal in the house! She is still afraid of little things, like the ice maker; however, that is just because living indoors is completely new to her. She is doing great with crate and potty training. She is very happy in the mornings and ready to eat. She is such an easy-going girl. Her favorite place to lay is on an area rug in the family room. If she is missing, that is where I can always find her stretched out. Chloe is an absolute joy to foster! I can’t wait until she learns it is ok to cuddle with me!” To see more photos of Chloe, click here.

RADAR paid all $313 of Chloe’s heartworm treatment costs.
