Chloe, also known as Shi, is quite the character! A comedienne at heart, this one to two-year-old Bulldog mix ended up at the Chester County Animal Care & Control shelter in South Carolina way back on October 24th. Unfortunately, Chloe was in bad shape. She was very emaciated, and she needed to have entropion surgery done. On top of all that, she was heartworm positive. It would take a whole lot of work to get this charismatic comic back on her feet!

On March 6th, Jackie Kyles with the Southern Animal Welfare League in South Carolina requested RADAR’s help for Chloe. “We’ve had someone who has met Chloe at the shelter and they think she has given up,” Jackie told us. “For her wellbeing, we would like to get her out of these poor conditions ASAP.” We agreed and two days later Chloe was at long last out of the shelter, and being fostered by Jackie.

It was a long path to good health for Chloe. For the first few days in foster care, Chloe could only stand for a few minutes on her wobbly legs, and slept most of the time. After gaining some much-needed weight and strength, she was able to get spayed and have her entropion surgery on April 6th. Chloe had her first heartworm treatment on June 11th, and her final heartworm treatments took place on July 9th and 10th.

“Chloe is hysterical!” Jackie said on July 7th. “She has so much enthusiasm for crazy simple things like jumping up on the sofa, but doing it from the armrest end instead of the front of the sofa. She makes such a production out of it and the more we laugh at her the funnier she gets! For the first time since she’s been here she looks healthy and happy! She’s filling out and her coat is gorgeous!” Click here to view more photos of Chloe.

RADAR paid all of the costs for Chloe’s 2nd and 3rd heartworm treatments, which totaled $318.
