While many of us are hooked on chocolate, this Chocolate was chained to a porch. Twelve-year-old Chocolate and eleven-year-old Babygirl, both Bully Breed mixes, were living a life of neglect. They were brought to the Mary Ann Morris Animal Society (MAMAS) shelter in rural Bamberg County in South Carolina on June 26th by a man who claimed that he had been the boyfriend of the woman who owned the dogs. He said that she was not taking care of them. Amazingly enough, neither dog had heartworms, but both had fleas and skin issues, with Chocolate having severe hair loss.
On July 18th, Ruthie Rish at MAMAS reached out to us to see if we could assist with the skin care costs for both Chocolate and Babygirl to better enable them to secure rescue commitments. “These two have had a rough life,” Ruthie said. “We’d like for them to have a much better one, for however long they have.” We agreed and both dogs had their vet appointments on July 24th to diagnose and treat their skin problems.
“Chocolate is a love bug!” Ruthie told us. “He was tested with other dogs and all went well, with the exception of one intact male dog. He even did well with a cat!” To see more photos of Chocolate, click here.
RADAR paid all $195 of the initial vetting and skin treatment costs, for Chocolate.
