Do you see what I see? Yes, it’s Cici! But all that Cici could see this past spring were problems. She was found as a homeless stray with six puppies on April 12th. Cici was taken to the Lee County Animal Shelter in South Carolina. One to two years old and a Bully Breed-Labrador Retriever mix, Cici tried very hard to care for her pups, but some of the pups were not doing well and needed to get out of the shelter immediately. Her smallest pup also had an injury. Cici’s positive heartworm status was preventing this family from getting to safety.
On April 14th, Brandi Sowell, RADAR’s liaison with the Lee County Animal Shelter, urgently contacted us about Cici. Melissa McAllister and her South of the Bully Rescue in North Carolina was willing to take the entire family IF Cici’s heartworm treatment costs could be covered. We agreed to assist, and on April 16th, Cici and her pups were safely out of the shelter and off to a foster home.
After weaning her pups, Cici was able to get her heartworm treatment done on July 1st. The rescue had this to tell us about Cici: “She loves car rides and she has pleasant leash manners. This poor baby is ready to find a forever home of her very own where she can rest and enjoy the easy life she definitely deserves!” To see more photos of Cici, click here.
RADAR paid all $250 of the heartworm treatment costs for Cici.
