With her Cinderella-like story, Cindy could be called Cindyrella! This six-year-old Boxer blend was brought to the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina by animal control on November 16th. Cindy was very thin, weighing less than 30 pounds. She was also heartworm positive. For weeks on end Cindy waited for someone to take her, but had no takers. She was placed on the shelter’s Put To Sleep list for January 15th.
In the knick of time, Cindy received a stay of execution when Almost Home Dog Rescue in Pennsylvania offered to take her. However, they could only do so if her heartworm treatment costs could be covered. On January 15th, Susan Blakeney, RADAR’s liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, urgently asked for our help to save Cindy. We agreed at once, and Cindy was safe!
Cindy received her heartworm treatment January 28th. Susan told us this about Cindy: “She’s all smiles! Her tail wags and she gets all wiggly-jiggly when she sees folks coming her way. She tries so very hard to make sure you notice her. She’s great with other dogs, and easily and happily shares her space and time with them. Sweet Cindy is a bubbly, engaging lady ready to steal your heart.” To view more photos of Cindy, click here.
RADAR paid all of Cindy’s heartworm treatment costs of $252.
