Cody shares his name with William Cody, who’s better known as Buffalo Bill Cody! This Cody is no buffalo, but is one of nine very mixed-breed stray puppies who arrived at the Mercer County Animal Shelter in Princeton, WV on March 18th. The nine pups were dubbed “The Feral Pups” since they were unsocialized. Despite being adorable puppies, no one took them. On March 30th, all nine dogs went Code Red, and were scheduled to be euthanized on April 3rd.
The Mercer County Volunteers, who are so dedicated to saving the dogs at this shelter, urgently got the word out about the fate of these nine pups. On March 31st, RADAR made an offer to help cover up to $300 in initial vetting costs as an incentive for a rescue to take several of these at-risk puppies. The very next day, April 1st, Paws for Seniors rescue in Virginia agreed to take the four male pups. However, when they came to get the pups (a 500-mile roundtrip), they also took six other dogs as well!
The pups got their initial vetting and neutering done on April 5th. With the cost only $75 for each, RADAR’s $300 offer fully paid for Cody and three of the other pups (Bear, Fuzzy and Toby). To see more photos of Cody, click here.
RADAR paid Cody’s initial vetting and neutering costs of $75.
