Connie was part of a rescue hat trick! Not quite a year old, Connie is Labrador Retriever-Shepherd mix who arrived on June 10th at the Mercer County Animal Shelter in West Virginia. A large black dog and a small rural kill shelter are not a good combination. Sure enough, on June 29th, Connie was listed as Code Red, with a possible euthanasia date of July 5th.
With a RADAR assistance offer, Three Rivers Labrador Retriever Rescue in Pennsylvania had agreed to take the Lab mix Ginger on June 18th. The rescue was making the trip to the shelter on July 1st to pick up Ginger. We offered to assist with the vetting costs for Connie and another death row Lab mix, Molly, if the rescue would also take them. They agreed, and it was three for three: three Lab mixes went to Three Rivers Lab Rescue!
On July 2nd, Connie received her initial vetting. We were told this about Connie from the rescue: “She loves hanging out with her eight-year-old Golden Retriever foster brother. She also loves playing with her human foster brothers and sister. Connie listens very well. She loves playing in the water!” Click here to view more photos of Connie.
RADAR paid $150 towards the initial vetting costs for Connie.
