You might know of Courtney Love, but we think you’ll love this Courtney! Four years old and a Labrador Retriever mix, Courtney arrived at the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina on June 1st. She was surrendered to the shelter by her owner to face a life or death fate. Being overlooked as a black dog in a crowded rural shelter was bad enough for Courtney, but even worse, she tested heartworm positive. Courtney was placed on the shelter’s “Put To Sleep” list for July 15th.

On July 8th RADAR provided an offer to cover Courtney’s heartworm treatment costs in order to encourage a rescue to take her. With only a day to spare, on July 14th One Life to Live Rescue and Adoption in Pennsylvania agreed to rescue Courtney! She had her heartworm treatment done on July 21st.

We were told this about Courtney during her “photo shoot” at the shelter: “With manners that would make Emily Post proud, she calmly walked past the kennels of barking dogs, and then quietly sat to wait patiently in the photo area for her turn. Courtney was warm and welcoming when meeting new people and dogs, greeting them with a softly wagging tail and gentle kisses. She even ignored the cat who hopped off the railing near her and sauntered off. Courtney won a gold star for favorite dog of the day!” Click here to view more photos of Courtney.

RADAR paid all of Courtney’s heartworm treatment costs, totaling $261.
