Just in time for the lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer, it’s Daisy! This two-year-old Treeing Walker Coonhound arrived at the Mercer County Animal Shelter in West Virginia on May 19th. We’re not sure how or why Daisy ended up in the shelter, but as “just another hound dog” in a crowded rural kill shelter, Daisy’s days were numbered.
On June 3rd, RADAR’s liaison with the Mercer County Animal Shelter, Sherry Hutchison, asked for our help. We immediately provided an offer to assist with Daisy’s vetting costs as an incentive for a rescue to take her. On June 9th, with Daisy down to her last day, Open Hearts Rescue in Virginia agreed to take her! She had her initial vetting and spaying done on June 19th.
Open Hearts Rescue shared this with us about Daisy: “She is a bundle of kisses, energy and love all wrapped into a perfect little hound package! She loves to feel the grass between her toes and run, run, run! Daisy enjoys playing with the other dogs. She appears to have been mistreated in her previous life, but that doesn’t stop her from giving her full affection once she trusts you. She is so happy to just lean against your leg and be petted. Daisy is a great girl who is so thankful to have a second chance at a good life!” Click here to see more photos of Daisy.
RADAR paid $150 towards Daisy’s initial vetting and spaying costs.
