If this dog were part hog, we could call him Harley-Davidson! Approximately three to four years old and a Bully Breed mix, Davidson was brought to the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina by animal control way back on February 2nd. Week after week Davidson went unnoticed by potential adopters and rescues. Being both a Bully Breed mix and heartworm positive put his life increasingly at risk. On March 21st Davidson was added to the shelter’s March 25th “put to sleep” list.

In order to rev up the engines of rescue interest in Davidson, RADAR provided an offer to cover his heartworm treatment costs. On March 25th, we received the good news from Susan Blakeney, RADAR’s liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, that Davidson was safe! South of the Bully rescue agreed to take him. Davidson’s heartowrm treatment took place on June 17th and 18th. His foster mom says he is great!

After meeting Davidson at the shelter, Susan had this to share with us: “He’s super, super polite. He greets other dogs with a fun, friendly tail wag. He’s not one of those clingy, in-your-face, kind of dogs, but rather the companion who will calmly curl up by your side. He’s calm and very mild in manner. Davidson is a polished Southern Gentleman!” Click here to view more photos of Davidson.

RADAR paid all of Davidson’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $299.
