What’s the deal with Delaney? Here are the basics: she’s a two-year-old Golden Retriever mix. On June 5th, she arrived at the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina with her nine 3-week old pups in tow. Normally, a Mom and pups would easily find a rescue. But something was going to make finding a rescue for Delaney and her pups more difficult… Delaney was heartworm positive, and she needed treatment.
Luckily for Delaney and her pups, Long Trail Canine Rescue in Vermont was interested in taking the family. They approached RADAR for help with Delaney on June 7th. With our funding help for her heartworm treatment, the rescue could commit to take the entire family, place them in a foster home, and get Delaney’s heartworm treatment done. We agreed! Delaney’s heartworm treatment took place on September 14th.
The rescue had this good news to share with us: “Delaney fit in so well with her foster family that she had a forever home soon after she arrived on her transport from South Carolina to Vermont. She loves to go camping with the family, has a furry sibling brother to play with, kiddos to keep her busy and she is loved very much by her mama!” All of Delaney’s pups have also found forever homes! RADAR paid all $250 of the heartworm treatment costs for Delaney.
