It’s the delightful Delilah! Two to three years old and a Labrador Retriever mix with Doberman colors, Delilah was seized by animal control as part of a court case against her owners. This resulted in her ending up in the Hampton County Animal Shelter in South Carolina on May 1st. Considering the neglect charges, it wasn’t surprising that Delilah tested heartworm positive.
On May 17th, Mary Lou Seymour of Shelter Animals Advocates and its Heart Beat Goes On program started her efforts to get a rescue commitment for Delilah. When Dog Star Rescue in Connecticut offered to take Delilah on May 26th, the only obstacle was the cost of her heartworm treatment. Mary Lou immediately sought RADAR’s help, and we obliged!
Delilah received her heartworm treatment on June 1st. We were told this about Delilah from December Clark, also with Shelter Animal Advocates and The Heart Beat Goes On program: “She’s a super nice girl! Her pictures do not do her justice; she is gorgeous in person. She is a fabulous dog with excellent manners.” To see more photos of Delilah, click here.
RADAR paid all $305 of the heartworm treatment costs for Delilah.
