Let’s delve into Devon’s details! On June 6th, two to three-year-old Devon was surrendered to the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina. But he was not alone. In addition to dad Devon, there was mom Vivian and their three pups, who were two to three months old. This Bully Breed mix family faced many challenges at the shelter, but the biggest was that both Devon and Vivian were heartworm positive.
On July 26th, Susan Blakeney, RADAR’s liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, contacted us, saying, “We have been pushing and pushing to get this whole family out and now we have an interested rescue, but they cannot pull the parents unless we can get their heartworm treatment done.” We agreed to cover the cost for both dogs, which enabled One Life to Live Pet Rescue and Adoption in Pennsylvania to take the entire family! Devon received his heartworm treatment on August 23rd. Vivian had her treatment on September 20th.
“Devon and Vivian are both super-friendly, personable dogs,” Susan told us. “They are playful and gentle with their their pups. Devon pays attention to everything around him. He wants to know what is happening. When it was his turn to get out of his kennel at the shelter, he had to bowl everyone over in his enthusiasm!” To see more photos of Devon, click here.
RADAR paid all $327 of the heartworm treatment costs for Devon.
